An interesting story is told by Myra centered on the 1993 Barbarians match at the Tigers ground in Welford Road. Apparently burglars had entered the house next door and the Police were making enquiries. Myra was asked if she had noticed anything unusual or heard anything the night before, she said that she had not and the police then asked if they could speak to her husband.
"No I'm afraid not", she said. "He's down Welford Road".
Leicester Prison is also situated in Welford Road and to judge from the policemans expression, there is little doubt that this is what he was thinking of.
Ron recently celebrated his 80th birthday at a party given by his Nephews & Nieces at the Lutterworth Club.
